WTF?
Where'd the name MiguelitoNet come from?A friend of the family has called me miguelito for as long as I can remember... for a couple reasons.
When it came time to get my own domain a few years ago, I needed a name for one, and miguelito came to mind. .com and .net were already gone, so I got the .org one. When filling out the forms to register the domain, it asked for a organization name, so I just typed in MiguelitoNet... I've been using that as the site name |
Who am I?My name is Mike Marion. I'm a Unix System Administrator for Qualcomm Inc. or, to be in more precise, I work in the Qualcomm CDMA Technologies business unit... that's the group that designs and makes the chips that power a good chunk of the wireless world.Note: The usual disclaimer that my opinions are my own and not those of my employer apply on my entire site. Over the last 4 years at Qualcomm, I've worked primarily on Sun Solaris based system, but lately have worked more and more on x86 Linux systems. Update 2/5/2008: I went to Mesa College for 3 years (Fall 91-Spring 94) and earned an AA, then went to SDSU for 4 years (Fall 94- Spring 98) and earned a BS in Computer Science. Yeah, so I took 7 years to finish college... bite me. It was while working on the BS at SDSU that I realized I didn't like programming much at all (and I'm not good at OOP at all), and that I really enjoyed systems administration... and had a talent for it as well. It was also during a class on SysAdmin (CS470 with Dr. John Carroll) that I worked on a lab team with two guys that later were hired at Qualcomm, and brought me in when needed. Going way back... I went to High School at USDHS, and grade school at St. Columba. Yep... catholic school. Uniforms in grade school sucked, but I think we (my sister went to both schools too) got a much better education then we would've had our parents left us in public school.
