The Summer-Cam is online! November 17, 2002 at 6:32 pm

So I’ve got a cheesy webcam setup now… the Summer-Cam.:

It’s simply a cam pointing in my front-yard, and yes, it looks blurry. I wanted to protect it as well as I could so for now it’s in a ziploc bag that’s as sealed as I can get it. 🙂

The software I’m running takes pics at 10 second intervals, and I’m keeping 24 hours worth of pics around.

  1. Your cam needs a Pelican Case:

Check out the clear 1040 or 1050 (not sure how big your cam is). They have removable colored inserts. You’d be able to drill one hole for wiring and then silicone it back up for a pretty much waterproof enclosure on the cheap. If the box material isn’t clear enough (or has distortion or whatever), you could dremel out a tiny opening and silicone a piece of glass (like an old flashlight lense maybe) in its place.
